LBO questions

LBO questions

Postby sneek-ee » Tue Apr 01, 2014 5:15 pm

Alright, I'm looking to buy an LBO. There are a lot of options and I want some more info on them.

This will be a solo shelter, and sometimes 2 ppl.
I'd like to use my box stove in it too at times.
How easy is it to set up the lbo with 3 piece vestibule? How long does it take and how many stakes does it require for the whole setup.will this fit two adults comfortably? How about with a stove? I'm 6'4".

How big is the LBO With 2 parr vestibule and stove jack? This is cheaper, $289. But how big is it? What is the total weight?

What about the LBO 2 bases? What is the weight on this? And how big is it?

What would you recommend for best size and weight, along with wanting to use a stove at times?

Last question? What is the difference between forest green and grizzly brown fabrics?? Why the price difference? Different material or weight?

Thanks!!!!

Hi sneek-ee
We don't manufacture the 2 part vestibule anymore , the 3
part is superior for minimal weight gain.

Setup of LBO and 3 part is not long once you have a process.
Maybe 2 minutes and 6 to 8 stakes. The secret is pitch the back, pull the center of the 3 part to keep geometry centered then set the other stakes. The 3 part is fine for 2 adults 6 ft plus without a stove . In fact without a stove I think it's absolutely a terrific 2 man shelter . With a stove , it requires either a different sleeping arrangement or a bit of care.
Weight with a stove jack is 26
ounces and without a bit less. In fact you can have 2 vestibules one with a stove jack and one without if you really want to save ounces.

The LBO dual base for 2 6 ft plus and a stove is not a problem at all.
Weight is closer to 32 ounces.

Green is not available but there will be a double base setup for sale soon from our cart. Hint, sign up for our mailer. There won't be much but there is a dual base green that will be available. The fabrics are very very similar. They are both nice but different.
We built a tipi with all the different colors in different panels, and let it set for 6 months to monitor differences over time. The end result was there were none that were noticeable.

Kevin, thanks!
So, question.

Which is bigger? Base+3 piece vestibule or base+base? And which of these two setups would you recommend to run with a stove and 2 ppl.

Does the base/base combo have any doors? How does that work?

How much is that green combo going to cost? When will that be available?

How much does your carbon fiber pole weigh?

Thanks again!

Base base is larger

Both variations have 2 doors like some of the dual vestibule , dual entrance backpacking tents. Very efficient for using.

No idea on how much combo will cost. Less than list , probably will be available next week or the week after

Out pole weighs 7 ounces but is currently sold out. We will be getting others and the weight may be different. We are always looking to improve so we are working in some pole improvements. The shelter is suitable for use with a trekking pole with an extender which is $10.95

Thanks
Kevin

Will it come with a stove Jack in one of the bases??
How does the 2 bases connect to each other? Ar the entrances zippered? Guess im just trying to picture t. How hard of setup?
Sounds like this is what I'll get!!! Then add the connecting tarp soon too!!

What is the fabric made of? 15d silnylon? 30d?

I'll support Kevin's opinion on the three piece vs the base/base. The three piece is great for one guy with a stove, great for two without a stove, and tight for two with a stove. Base/base should have no trouble fitting two and a stove.

Thanks Kevin and Nathan.

Whenever I can get that base+base setup you're talkin about let me know. I'll take it! Just need to add a stove jack to one of the bases and I'll be set! Hopefully you get some carbon fiber poles in stock soon too!
