6 and 8 person nest questions

Yes these are large, proving a fully enclosed space for half the tent. They comfortably sleep half the tents rating, and you could probably squeeze more.

They can be used in shelters larger than them, but require a bit more fiddling for setup.

Silly question probably, but do these nests essentially provide a floor and screen for half the tent? And would be a solution to setting up a tent when it has already rained before setting camp and the ground/grass is soaked?

Correct a floor and screen for half. If it is raining set the tent up first and put the nest inside

I can't tell really well but can you confirm whether or not the next has the base material wrapped up the netting side a little bit---bathtub style I guess-- so that it would keep out some casual water.

About how much weight do these add to the overall? And is it just the mesh/bottom or are there additional poles/stakes required as well?

For an 8 person they add 3 lbs. less for a 6 of course. They stake with the tent so no extras are needed although you could use one or two on the front. You need some cordage to tie it to the pole. IMO the 8 person is to tall so I wrap cordage and tie it lower on the pole at about 7 ft.

The weight can be offset easily. Screens add more than a pound to an 8 and a liner adds more than a pound. If you look at it as a replacement for those then the weight added is less than a pound. Lots of options it just depends what you want
