Are the water bottle pockets easy to get bottles in and out of?

Is this a tapered pack like the Divide or a straight pack like the Fortress?

I'll add fortress and goshawk have some taper now . The Gila is more like a mini divide . Bottle pockets seem easy but I think that is relative and depends how you wear a pack

Thanks as always Kevin. I agree it is relative and I find the Fortress easy to get water bottles in and out, especially with the newer pockets.

I am anxiously awaiting to see what you guys have come up with. This looks very promising and I think this may be a pack that is appealing to to a lot of backpackers.

The 3500ci size and 2.5lb range is more appealing to most backpackers than 4500ci and 3lb.

The Gila is now up on the website.

What material are the water bottle pockets made of? Are the X-Pack?

What are the dimensions of this pack compared to the Divide?

The grey is X21 and the olive is X42, but I read the blue is VX21, rather than X21, is that correct?

I am thinking of picking one of these packbags up to use with my existing Unaweep frame.

I really think this pack will be a winner!

Bottle Pockets are 500 D Cordura. Tan on the green and black on the other two colors.

Yes Gray is X21

Green is X42

Teal VX21

Compared to the Divide , it is about 4 inch less circumference , the same height, side pockets feel a little bigger , and mesh pocket is longer but not as deep.

For me, this is a really good pack for
-- "High Route" style trips
-- Canyon type trips
-- gear intensive day trips.

Does the removable strapping (over the top, third compression and two bottom straps) come with the Gila bag or do they need to purchased in addition to? Can you use a Talon like the Merlin, with the Gila, even though it would cover the mesh pocket? Would the mesh pocket be wide enough for a pair of hiking boots? I am a female size 6, so they aren't huge. :) I think this is the bag I have been waiting to come out and am so excited but I want to make sure I get it right as it's a lot of money and for me an extra 30% in Canada. Does anyone who has tested it have any interior photos to get an idea of the inside? Thanks

Strapping is included
Talons can work just change the attachment
No idea on the boots call our shop and ask I'm sure someone can find some small boots
Interior photos ... not very exciting . The teal color had a white backer that many feel is good for finding stuff ...

I would like to order a Gila, as a "general duty" pack for keeping emerg. gear with me at all times in my Tacoma 4x4 and training hikes near home-2-6 hr. slogs in the BC Coast Range, to maintain fitness.

I have two SO packs now, am used to keeping my emerg. gear in a Multi-lid and want one with any Gila, I order. Is this doable or what is the situation?

Thanks, Dewey
