Pack Line Changes and Evolution

Postby kevin_t » Mon Jul 31, 2017 6:38 am

This is a thread just to answer some basic questions such as frame size and changes and anything else.

Yes, we have made a lot of small changes over time. Almost all of these has been to provide a better overall product to customers, though sometimes a customer may have preferred how we did it previously for one reason or another or perhaps just familiarity.

Example:
Frame changes. We currently use a smaller diameter frame than we started with. The frame is not as stiff as the original, but in general the frame fits people better, and can still handle 200 lb plus loads. Simply put the other one was overkill without much of a need. Was it more durable ? Unlikely, there has not been any issues with the slightly smaller diameter frame. In essence, save a little weight, fit people a bit better

Hipbelt Dual Buckle: This is about fit, ease of repair in remote places and ability to change tension a bit if needed. Yes, some prefer the single buckle mechanical advantage, however in our testing never was the extra tension actually needed to secure the belt. Yes, in a lot of other packs, the tension is required, but not so much with our belt system. For many people, the ability to change top and bottom tension allows it to fit better and be worn in a more traditional area.

This is just an example of a couple changes. If you have other ones that you would like a more thorough explanation just let us know.
Thanks

I still run the Evolution frame I bought from Dec of 2014, along with all the old packbags from around that time. I've since used the Evo to Revo to update it, but now with all the updates that have happened since, including updated packbags, I'm considering just getting the new Revolution Suspension Frame altogether.

All of the updates look very nice and intriguing. Do you include the Quad buckle with all new frames that are bought? I'm not sure whether I'd like the new 2 buckle system or not. Either way I'd like to try it, but I'd like to be able to change to the quad buckle if I prefer the old way. Also, will the hip belt pockets work with the new hipbelt?

Lastly, are you going to put out a video up for the new 3500 peregrine? I've used the old Peregrine for so many day hunts, I love that pack.

One quick question about the new dual strap belt. I just received mine and it is a noticeable improvement, really love it. One thing leaves me puzzled. The new belt has the same mesh as the old forward pull belt. I thought it would come with a different fabric (it has a different fabric on the website pics showing the khaki packs). What am I missing?

Hmm I'm confused . The mesh is a little thicker . The color depends either tan or black . I'm not sure . The mesh looks the same but it is thicker

Send it by email . The mesh is thicker and heavier but it depends on what you are comparing to. Early belts had a heavier mesh , then we used a thinner mesh and this is sort of in the middle .

Pretty easy answer here. When I took the photo of the Lumbar Pad I stuck it on a prototype thinner belt that had the spacer mesh turned inside out. That's not a production belt in the photo you referenced.

A couple things I just wanted to clarify on some new packbags, just so I know I'm seeing this right:

- The Goshawk 4800 is essentially a Revolution Fortress 4800, however it has a full side zip and perhaps a little bigger side pockets?
- The Broadwing is a little bigger packbag that than the 2 above, but more variable side pocket configuration, and also a side zipper. Does the Broadwing work well with a talon?
- All packs utilize the gatekeeper hardware now, correct? I can't wait to switch over to gate keepers.

Thanks
