Yeah I am pretty excited, he has enough points for the early rifle above timberline deer tag. We hunted 76 for elk two years ago. I feel in love with that whole area over there.

"Would a talon that was cordura one side and mesh the other be desirable ?No zippers just a pocket and compression panel"

Yes that would be my perfect go to Talon. It couldn't be regular mesh though, I agree, that would snag on a lot of brush. The stretch weave stuff though has proven to be a great product. If in the future you do make a roll top or drawstring day pack I would jump on that as well. I hate using another brand as reference but it's my only way to convey what I am looking for. The REI Flash 18 is a good day pack because its simple and has a bit of function to it for me. The only issue I see with that type of Talon is it would need a simple cord to compress it down if it wasn't full while being used a compression panel on the frame. I just dislike zippers, tons of pockets and the such. Not a big deal, we all have our preferences and that's a good thing. Also to be fair it's hard for me to judge how well your current talons would work for me since I don't have one in hand yet. I can only go by what I have found I like and dislike with all my current and former packs.

What if the talon was sort of reversible ? Use the mesh pocket on the inside or outside by reversing the keyed buckles ?

With the mesh, you are kit wanting the real thin stretch mesh like many UL packs correct ? You would prefer something more substantial ?

I'm doing the initial contemplation for my ideal pack, one that can handle doing some canoe portage work, and I think the simple rolltop talon, one side material, the other mesh would be great.

That said, I would love to have an option to clip a Talon to the front of my backpack straps, as I love to balance out the load. This is where I would likely expect to have some of the food on long portage.

As a side note, an option for a forehead strap would not go amiss on these packs, especially if I were to hike downhill with a real heavy load. I find such straps really improve coordination. This would need to find a good anchor point, frame in one case, talon in the extreme case.

Thanks for chiming in mossler. Sorry my previous post was so cryptic, I guess that's what I get with Tapatalk at 5 am.

Balancing load has a lot of merit. During initial testing , I used a variety of ways to test the merit of it with heavy loads. I have not tried the head straps but have hear good things.

We will possibly be working on some front pouches / packs in the future.
