Carry-on sized frameless?

Postby alukban » Mon Sep 12, 2016 7:01 am

Hey Kevin,

Are there any plans for a carry-on sized frameless pack in the 2500 ci size range?

TIA

Yes but framing is optional so frameless or framed

Awesome :)

A roll top for expansion and the ability for compression would be great.

As much as I love and use my Paradox pack, I do not use it in town because the frame is bulky - can't throw it into the back seat easily or bring it on a plane.

For that role, I have been using a Gossamer Gear G4. I like it well enough but it is really flimsy/structureless and thin. I do like its roll top and outside mesh pockets but it has no ability for compression.

I was looking at the Kifaru Spike camp at this size range but they are very busy and on the bulky+heavy end compared to the GG G4.

I can tell you what we want to accomplish, but the end product may not be all of that or may differ a bit. It is likely to be a roll top that is an everyday pack / ultralight EDC / or possibly carry a decent load well. We should start working on it in a more official capacity soon, but it will likely be a few months before it is refined and ready. However, knowing what I know, it may be well worth waiting for (hopefully). Patience, if something doesn't get said more officially by early next year, Id be surprised. I think it will be a great pack for when you just don't need big hauling capability. Think of it as a compliment to our main lineup for all the times the main lineup is more pack than needed.

I am also VERY interested in a pack such as this, would buy one for my "emerg" truck pack which lives in my Taco 4x4 so I don't have to bother packing for each trip over BC's snowfilled, cold mountain passes and another for a super light Grouse hunting rig.

I would REALLY like it to be a full 3000 cu. in. IF possible and as H20 proof as possible, it kinda rains in BC...........

Keep up the good work, I LOVE my Divide in MC and am just now packing it for a trip at the end of this month.

I have a revolution, a 4800 bag + day talon. I run it as a 24 inches and I fly with it as hand luggage more time I can care to count (I fly a lot) -- basically in every continent. The only limitation I found as a EDC is that when the bag is empty or very light it tends to creep up my back, especially the belt, if I tighten the shoulder straps a lot.

Before anybody asks, I fly for work and it is not fun.

The airlines have gotten very strict lately - to the point of ridiculousness.

At one time earlier this year, they have made me test fit my luggage 3 times at 3 separate locations before boarding one flight. They want to make you check it in and thus charge you extra.

I have not physically measured my SO pack frame for that 24" dimension. If it is 24", then it will not fit within the specs for most all airlines.
