Beautiful sun today so its time to re-seam sealing my babies,the fact than sending back my 4 man to Seekoutside to have a bug net was unthinkable so i did a nice DIY job on my tipi.Cost me 30$Cad to do it.

I'm considering a bit 2 for a lightweight heated solo shelter for September elk in Colorado. I'm 6'2" and pack pretty light, with my 4 man and a HEAVY pack less food and water I'm at 32 lbs for a 5-7 day trip. I've flex pitched my 4 and there seems to be plenty of room. Is the bt 2 comparable? In your opinion what are the pros and cons of this shelter? At a savings of 2.5lbs the bt 2 is a deal at the price point.

Well i am pretty small guy,5'4" and the bt2 was ok but i prefer the 4 man for everything,solo,or max 3 pers trip most of the time we are 2...If you really looking for lightweight of course bt2 is good with a medium or small stove.In my opinion i prefer to have a little more weight and having more space,loved my bt2 but sold it maybe 2 months later and bought a 4 man.Now my hunting and camping time are always with my 4 man,for long days hiking and fishing i am using a kifaru paratarp and parastove wich is awesome and freaking lightweight.With your flex pitch i am sure the bt2 is smaller than that,but have you checked the bt2 dimensions?,64" of height and 56/sq ft.Overall the bt2 its a solo shelter+gear and stove and no-stand-up position or perfect for Hobbits lol!If you really wanna cut weight you should cut something else in you pack...its my opinion.

In my limited experience with both tents, the BT-2 is a little bit (but noticeably) smaller than the 4-person tipi flexi-pitched.

BT-2: 9ft diameter, 5'3" tall.

4P tipi flexi-pitched: 10ft diameter, 6'0" tall.

The BT-2 is a great choice if weight is more critical than size.

Last question I promise, MontanaMarine your a tall guy like me when laying on a pad did your feet or head clear the sides? Meaning did you fit laying down in it? I can change three things in my kit to lighten the load. My tent, sleeping bag, or pack. The tent would be the cheapest at $250 for a 2.6lb saving. I know it's silly to be worrying about a 40lb pack for a weeks worth of hunting gear.
