I'm driving myself crazy drooling over the Divide. I'm trying to be responsible and see if I get a Christmas bonus before buying one but I may crack sooner.

Thank you to everyone who has posted in this thread, especially those of you who posted pictures.

Now that some of you own a Divide, any more pics or thoughts you'd like to share? Did anyone get to haul meat in theirs?

I love the PALS webbing on the hip belt; finally an easy way to attach a holster - I can't tell you the number of odd ways I've carried my .44 while backpacking, it's ridiculous that more pack makers don't consider this.

I don't have a PALS holster that's perfect for my Taurus Tracker .44 mag, the search continues there - suggestions welcome.

I do have a couple of PALS/MOLLE holsters that work well with my .45. They're nothing to write home about, I pulled one off of a cheap drop-leg holster and the other off of a tactical vest ( boobs and a chest-mounted holster don't work with an AR).

I googled "PALS holster" and the the top image results look like what I have; they're just a taco fold-over with webbing.

I figure I'll either start taking my .45 backpacking or I'll jerry rig something. In any case, it'll be better than my current pack, the hip belt is covered in webbing adjustment and there's no place to put a holster.

I am trying to make the decision between a 4200 divide with an added talon and the unaweep 4800. I want to pick the pack that will fit me the best. I am 5'10" long legs torso length 16.5. I noticed the divide is optimized for a 24 vs the 26in frame height. Any thoughts on which would be a better fit. I will be using it for 1-3 night backpacking and hunting trips.

For hunting the side zip 4200 unaweep with takin would be my choice.

I prefer the unaweep over the divide for a few reasons I'll try and explain.

The main think I love about the unaweep is the 3 side compression straps. On the divide you don't use the middle one if you want to get in and out of the front stash pocket easily. If you need to use the middle compression straps on the divide it makes diggin in the front stash pouch difficult. So you have to release this compression strap and the load can shift.

Another reason I don't prefer the divide is that the water bottle side pockets are stretchy material. I could not get bottles back in without taking the pack off. With the unaweep you can set the tension on the pocket openings and I can get my water out and back in while walking no problem.

The back panel piece is more comfortable on the unaweep. The divide has a smaller piece that I didn't find was as comfortable and that also includes using the frame height at 24" vs 26". 26" is muh better for my use.

In hunting where you will go into the pack some and strap gear to the outside the 4200 unaweep side zip will be much more of a preference so you can get into the pack with out the only access being the top. The Talon on the unaweep is such a joy to use! You will love that feature for stapling feat down and not be activated because something is buried in the stash pocket like you may have happen if using Talon with the divide.

For backpacking I prefer a no zip 3900 unaweep and I didn't use the Talon at all to cut weight and had no issues at all.

For strictly hunting I prefer the Evolution frame in 4200 with side zip snd Talon.

Hey Srob, did you make a decision between the Divide and the Unaweep 4800?

blgoode, I appreciate your point about water bottle pockets. I have short t-rex arms and I can never put my bottle away with a pack on. I'm always sewing reachable bottle holders onto my packs.

I saw the Divide drop off of the webpage for awhile so I emailed and it sounds like they might get away from both stretch material and the multicam color on the Divide. I really like the stretch material on my Osprey packs and while the color choice isn't vital to me, I dig the multicam. So when the Divide 4200 popped up on the website again, I pulled the trigger.

I'm positively giddy. I can't wait to do some snowshoeing and predator calling with this bad boy.

I ordered up some kydex too, now that I have an uncluttered hipbelt, I'm just going to fabricate the perfect holster.

I have a unaweep 4800 with side zip and 3900 unaweep no zip. I like the side zip and use it a lot when hunting but found I don't use it when backpacking.
I like the 3900 very much so for backpacking.
If I had to buy one pack to do hunting and backpacking with I would get the side zip in unaweep with talon.
I can get by almost always with 3900 size for hunting and backpacking but if you carry a lot of gear go with 4800. The more I use my packs with talon the more I like that setup over no talon.
