32 mile backpack trip with Unaweep

A quick report of te Unaweep on my 32 mile Linville Gorge loop. Pack worked better than I had predicted!!

The set up works great for backpacking when the Talon isn't used to cut weight. I thought it would be a little less than optimal but I can say that it was nothing of the sort. I had zero discomfort from the pack. No shoulder fatigue and no waste rubbing or lumbar inflammation. Started out at 24lbs total pack weight and ended up at 21.5lbs at the end. When water needed refilling it would have been in the 18lb range.

That's nice. I recently pulled the trigger on a Unaweep 4800, and looking forward to using it this fall. I went without the talon (for now anyway) to keep it simple and light. Nice to see it's functional without the talon too.

I love the Talon! But when your trekking long distance you can cut 6oz by loosing it and repacking with the idea that anything you need to grab toss in the top last. It is super easy to just open up the top and grab what you need and not disturb the load.

I have a 3900 and 4800 Evo bags and a 3900 Unaweep. I can see me snagging another 3900 with the lightest material and no zip in the future for backpacking only.

The 3900 Evo set up I just got is the work out pack to keep me in shape for backpacking

I carried the unaweep 4800 with Brian G and had a great hike with it also.
