I found chest rigs a little more sweaty than I prefer. The gateway is discontinued. I personally liked it , but some thought it fit a little loose. To me the looseness helped avoid sweat.

I would prefer a looser non sweaty fit with any chest rig / front pack vs tight and sweaty.

A lighter fabric may help as well. The Kitbags are pretty heavy duty cordura. During the winter I don't really mind it, but I"ve only worn it once so I hesitate to be real definite on that. But during the summer, I just can't, and I have tried. I really like the idea of always having a small light weight kit with you, but not if it means sweating that much.

Maybe I'll try wearing it looser and see if that helps though

I know our multi lid is sweaty when tight but not bad with just a little looseness when used as a chesty

I have used belt pockets by Gossamer Gear, Zimmerbuilt, Zpacks and Luke's Ultralite. I prefer the Luke's Ultralite Accessory Pouch #2 (cuben fiber) because it is the only pouch that is long enough for me to reach easily while my waist belt is fastened. http://lukesultralite.com/ultralite-accessory-pouch-2
I also have a Zpacks Shoulder Pouch (cuben fiber) on each shoulder strap: One for two of the following, depending on which I need quick access to -- camera, GPS, range finder. http://zpacks.com/accessories/shoulderpouch.shtml
HMG has nicely designed waist belt pockets incorporated to their packs.
Has anyone tried incorporating RIBZ into their outfit? I've used their packs, but found I didn't need to have that much easily accessible so didn't need the capacity.
They are comfortable even under a loaded pack, however.

I was thinking about giving these a try - they are Mystery Ranch so not as light but...tough as nails. The hipbelt pockets are ~2.4oz and the Flip Top Box is 5oz.

I have a Flip Top Box attached to my wifes Glacier and will see if it will fit on the Uniweep (when it arrives in the mail) but it looks like the hip pockets will.

Did I read that Seek Outside was coming out with hipbelt pouches?

I think the Zimmberbuilt padded shoulder pocket would work?

My first instinct was also to suggest the Zimmerbuilt padded shoulder strap pocket, until I looked up the model camera in question. It uses removeable lenses. That camera would be waaaaay too bulky for the Zimmerbult pockets. I use the Zimmerbuilt pockets for my Panasonic Lumix DMC ZS20 (an all in one, 20x zoom P&S) and while camera fits nicely, I made a few simple sewing modifications to make getting the camera in and out of the pack a bit more smooth. It would not accommodate larger cameras though.

On the topic of belt pouches, I have used the Granite Gear belt pockets (though I cut the weird stock mounting straps off them and sewed on strips of double-sided Velcro instead) and liked those a lot. And on my wife's pack, I use Kuiu belt pockets and slid a strip of stiff hook Velcro behind the Molle webbing on the pack's hipbelt to anchor the pouches in place (they tend to slip around otherwise).

Zpacks makes nice stuff. Almost anything will probably require a little modification and ingenuity to make it work to its full potential.
