While it may be overkill in some applications, I plan on using my 8 man for most of my hikes. I never would solo, but 2 or more people and I figure it will be a backcountry palace

I will admit though, I'm most looking forward to using it for base camps during fall/winter hunting camp.

Very seldom I manage to talk a friend into going out for a decent hike and camp. Almost never. I need better friends haha.

I have used the 8 man on hikes before, a little on the heavy side but split the weight between the two of us on the trip. It sure is nice for cooking and getting out of the bugs when the weather turns bad. Priceless in those cases.
