I have a strange but very beneficial anomaly with my original-style BCS. This weekend was my first chance to set it up, (I have a six-man that I've been using instead). Trying to setup the BCS in my yard with the directions in hand was not working out well at all. I spent a frustrating Friday afternoon trying everything I could think of. Then I noticed a thread where someone posted a pic of their BCS setup, it had a little sag so Kevin suggested setting it taller. This comment caused a light to come on for me. My BCS came with a lightweight carbon pole that's 6'5" max. Instructions advise 7', I tried again using the pole from my 6man.
...So, after all this I have a BCS with a center height of approx 7'6" ! I'm 6' tall, I can stand up, walk in and out without ducking, there's still plenty of room side-to-side, and the nest for my 6man fits fine across the back!
Maybe I did something wrong, but I have a BCS that's over 7' tall! AND it stood up perfectly to a heavy thunderstorm that blew in this weekend! I'm pretty happy about the whole thing.
Oh, and I ordered a proper carbon BCS/4man pole. I don't recognize the pole it came with, but it's light and well made. I'll probably use it with a siltarp as a light shelter.
Anyone else have a BCS that sets-up this tall?
Thanks for all the info on this forum.
