I didn't have a 64oz gatorade or a 2L soda bottle handy but a 60oz orange juice jug fit just fine so they should be good to go.

Do you think these would work well with soft bottles like a 1.5 or 2 liter playtpus or evernew?

I just tried a 2L platy bottle and it worked much better then i expected. if you take all the tension off the shock cord you have a big opening to aim for and you don't have to deform the bottle to shove it in. If you try to really lock it in with the elastic it will probably be as annoying as any other waterbottle pocket.

I got my bottle pockets. I haven't fished out my unaweep from its winter hibernation yet, but I'm not sure how to attach a pocket from frame to hipbelt. I assume the upper strap can be wrapped around the frame and reinserted into the slide buckle. The lower straps go forward parallel to the hipbelt AFAICS--not sure how to attach to the PALS unless I just curl them through.

When threaded through the bottom compression straps and wrapping around the frame, do they cover up the original water bottle pockets?
