Ongoing 12 Man Review

New member here. First tipi and wanted to share with the forum. I have been reading the other ongoing reviews for other size tipis, so figured I'd get a 12 man going for anyone to contribute to.

We have been camping for many years with a 8-man dome, and a 12x14 wall tent. The tipi seemed like a real attractive option for it's wind resistance, ease of setup/takedown, and light weight. Our uses of the 12-man will be for camping/hunting near the truck. Portability was not really a factor in our choice. We will use our wall tent stove to heat it, or a Mr Buddy heater, depending on the situation.

Anyway, our tent arrived today, so we had to get it pitched up in the yard, just to see what it was like and get some initial impressions. Setup was so easy, did the 54/8" setbacks and everything else fell into place. We set up some cots and brought in the stove for space assessment. Overall we are really pleased. Will share more in the future.

Massive! Where are you located at? That looks a lot like wyoming. Once you get it pitched in some serious winds I want to know how well it holds up.

We are in Montana, about 20 miles east of Helena.

The wind factor was big in our choice. Our 8-man dome (Cabelas Alaskan Guide with aluminum poles) has been folded in Wyoming winds, and the wall tent has taken some minor tears closer to home.

As we use the tipi I'm sure it will get tested, and I'll share here.

Swisski, I too am happy to see these review threads. Lots of pictures and experience getting out there. I am pretty stoked there are a few active and regular members on here.

I just ordered my 12 man.... if you could post up some more size pics I would appreciate it. Maybe with a cot or a sleeping bag.
