Rain cap

Just got back from a quick trip this week where my U-turn stove ran steadily trying to dry out wet clothes and bodies. I was trudging through wet snow, deep mud and knee deep puddles. I'm glad I left the Big Sibling at home because it would have been too wet to run a bottomless stove in my tent. It rained the whole time I was out, and I noticed that a fair amount of rain trickled in through the chimney while the stove was not in use. Does anyone else use a rain cap? Have you tried making your own? I'm kicking myself for not spending the extra $40 on a rain cap when I could spend a couple hundred on a stove.

Not often, but sometimes. While rain or melting snow coming down the chimney does reduce burn it is not a show stopper , just a pain

do you have to use a spark arrestor on the stoves in the tipis?
I have a big canvas wall tent and a large cyclinder stove that has to have a spark arrestor to keep embers from falling onto the tent fabric when the stove is really crankin.

I believe Kni-Co sells an end cap which has not only a spark arrestor on it but a tilt-able end so you can keep the rain out in various stove pipe positions/angles.

I just made one,it took 3 minutes,ultra light,take no place when is not in use.
