Just vestibule?

As I was ordering my vestibule last night I was thinking of some alternative uses for it. I seem to remember a thread or picture where someone used pitched just a vestibule or had some alternative uses for it but can't for the life of me find it.

Is anyone using it for something other than the vestibule on the LBO or know any resources where it was talked about? I would be able to figure out some uses for it myself but I'm not 100% sure how it attaches to the LBO other than it is zippered so not entirely sure how it would pitch until I actually see it.

You could use it as an emergency poncho with a little fiddling , I've even zipped them on a tarp or zipped two together as an experimentation for other shelters.

Thanks. I guess I had aspirations of being able to rig it to a trekking pole or tree as a quick and easy emergency shelter for waiting out some rain on the trail or something like that. One of the reasons I ask is that I notice the LBO zippers don't connect so there is a some sort of gap there at the top of the shelter. If there was something in that gap that could attach to a pole I could see it working, and if there is nothing there, it would obviously be tougher.

It can be rigged to a tree as sort of a half tipi with a little cordage on the line loc

Ah so there is a line loc on the top portion of the vestibule? That would allow for some pitching options on trees and poles I would think. I would assume it is used to tension the top portion of the vestibule with the line loc on the inside of the cone of the LBO when used for its intended purpose?

I finally decided I would try some of these out. Both went up in less than 2 minutes and very intuitively. Both pitches pictured were my first attempts and would be better if I could place my stakes exactly where I wanted, but that isnt possible in a rock garden.

I'm happy with both of them. I know most won't find these useful, but on overnight or weekend trips where weather can be reasonably predicted, I can find uses for both to save me some unneeded weight.
