What's everyone's backpacking pot of choice?

My first experience with non boiled water only in bag type meal. Just made some jasmine rice for dinner in the 700 pot. I don't think I did too bad having minimal scorching.

Niiiiice!

"Scorching" is not a problem... it's a feature

Some of us like the nutty flavor of "cooking enhanced" rice. HEH HEH :P

Only problem I see using the 700 as your main pot is if you ever did cook in it and wanted coffee you would be screwed. The smaller cups aren't large enough to make good strong real coffee in as I overflow them.

Thing I don't like about cooking in the 700 pot is that unless you just eat what you cook out of it it's a little small to add in a package of chicken or something. So I thought I'd try cooking rice in the 1400. A little too large maybe for s single serving of rice so I tossed in some for the wife.

I now know I prefer the 900 and 1400 for any cooking needs other than pouring boiling water into a bag and for they the 600 or 700 size wins out.

This shows how even s simple pasta side gets full if you add in some meat on top after cooked. And stirring would be horrible in the 700 size in my opinion.

Does the 900 nestle in the 1400?

Got pics? :geek:

900 in the mesh bag if you wanted and nested inside the 1400

1400 all closed up and mesh bagged sitting next to the 700.

Trying out the 1400 for some of the reasons I wanted that size in conjunction with my 900 and 700.

One was I wanted to use it as a crush proof caddy for things like eggs, or other items that tend to get crushed or things I don't want smashed in my pack.

Another was the larger mini frying pan to try and cook with.

Another was a larger vessels to heat water to use as a wash basin when doing cooking or washing up just because it's easier to get in and out of than the 900 or 700.

And last was just to use the pan as a plate if needed.

So today I just took the 900 and 1400 on a day hike and made some lunch. Worked out pretty good!

Almost done with the eggs here.
Used olive oil before putting the eggs in.

Coffee, oatmeal and edges ready for lunch.

Add a few slices of meat to top it call off.
