After looking at blgoode posts,I thought I would post a few pictures of my setups. I have two of the prototype LBO base units (no zippers) and I find they setup best with a lower pole height. The two base units have been delegated to backup just because I find the zippers provide a tighter pitch on those cold windy days and I have no stove jack in these units. I do keep one of the base units in my daypack as a light quick shelter.
The setup I use now is the Base - original vestibule with a medium stove and a nest. After looking at the three piece vestibule it has gone to the top of my want list!
I hope the zippers still match my original base unit.
I have a large pack and when I bring it inside I don't use the stove. Most of the time my pack stays outside in plastic.
These inside pictures are using a wide angle GoPro so they are rather distorted but I am 6' 3" for comparison. I have the two person nest loosened off to give me more room when the stove is on.
August in Alberta last year and snowing.
I use the stove even in summer as it is a great way to cook!
My son and I have a 6 man Kifaru tipi and we split the weight between the two of us but for solo use I can't think of a better setup that this, once I add the three piece vestibule. The nest is perfect for bugs and using it in wet weather keeps the condensation off my sleeping gear.
