A 4 mil plastic painter tarp in various sizes usually costs less than $8. I buy a 10' x 12' and cut it into 4 equal pieces. These last a long time, are light, can double as quick rain gear, and clean up fast.

I go floorless quite often with a home made tyvec bathtub for my Mat but would prefer to have a bright color to make finding stuff a bit easier with a 6 inch side extension

do you cut the tyvek to cover the entire floor area, or just under each sleeping pad??

Fishhunter, I've just cut tyvek in a 3x7 or 3.5x8 rectangle to cover the sleeping area.

Most of the concern with wet ground is unfounded if you have good choices of a camp site, i.e. high ground under trees. But if everything is really soggy the ground sheet is nice.

Tyvek should work well as a cheap alternative. Many suppliers on eBay. If you have a top load washer, you can run it through to break it in and thus reduce the crinkly noise.
