I selected the 4 season dual entrance nest. I assume it would do away with the need of a half liner and would make a tipi more useable during summer months in areas where bugs and varmints might be a problem.

Nest is best but better would be the ability to adjust the full nest easily to go half floorless whilst still being able to use the door easily

How about the option of being able to buy one or the other? The best of both worlds :) If I had to only pick one I would have to vote for perfecting the nest since there are so many bivies currently available on the market. What would be the difference between a 3 and 4 season nest?

In Virginia, bug protection is more important so I would lean towards the nest.

During bug season a nest is preferred. Otherwise a lightweight bivy is all I use.
