Hi guys,


I have received my stove and I cant work out where the spark arrestor goes does it sit underneath the damnper (wont fit in the crimped end but I didnt want to force it) or does it sit ontop or in the stove pipe

It sits under the butterfly damper and above the crimping on the stove collar. It has a small slit in it, which allows to to be compressed. Slide it in from the top (without the damper in) and then let it expand in place where the collar extends and there are a couple rivets. Then inset the damper segment and you are good. Personally, I rarely remove the spark arrestor, but usually remove the damper and then store the collar over the stove pipe.

I just received my stove and damper. Does the flue pipe sit loose on the damper piece? Is there ever an issue with wind lifting off the flue pipe? Or the edge of the flue pipe cutting the stove jack with the wind blowing things around?

The pipe sits around the damper. Bring a pipe ring down to hold it sort tight. The pipe can be sharp, but once it has been burned in once or twice, it stays much more round and reduces the chance to create a cutting surface.

In high winds, the pipe will rattle around a bit, and I have never experienced an issue, but as winds get high I sort of double check everything (that the pipe is pretty secure, tent stakes are well anchored etc). Honestly, the worst problem I have seen was user based clumsy ness while winter camping, nothing bad happened, but it could have.

Regarding the stove pipe - specifically, the roof flap that is created when the stove pipe extends through the opened-roof - do you fasten that flap down? If so, how? If the flap is in contact with the pipe will it melt?

Fasten the flap when the stove is not in place, when using a stove leave it open as a water diversion. The material will not have heat related issues unless it is very very close to a stove
