thinking of going floorless

I like the idea of going floorless, but am wondering what the procedure would be if the ground is already soaked (i.e. it rained while hiking in). Is there a good way to get the area dry enough to lay out the sleeping pad/bag without getting them soaked once they lay out?

Most people use a ground sheet like a simple piece of tyvek or a plastic painters tarp.

I usually use an oversized CCF pad that is lightweight, although a ground sheet has advantages at times

I started using a 6 oz. bivy this year. So far, so good.

Titanium Goat and OwareUSA makes some great inexpensive bivies. Or just use some painters plastic as a groundsheet. Bearpaw Wilderness Designs would also custom make a bathtub silnylon floor which is great if you want to keep the debris or wetness off the surface of the groundsheet.

We make half nests for the 6 and 8 as well as a 2 person that will work in all except the new tent. Personally, I most often use an oversized pad, but it depends sometimes a nest or bivy is good as well
