Backpack Discussion

I tend to hike in arid places where there could be hours of hiking before you find a water source. I have done these hikes drinking out of bottles with no bladder and I find it is much more likely for me to become dehydrated. This is especially the case if the people I am with have a bladder - they tend to drink more often because it is more convenient and need to refill less often. It's hard to say that everyone should ditch the water bladder or that everyone should use a water bladder. I just know for me that going without a bladder is not an option regardless of whether I am drinking directly from it. Unfortunately, there is no one-size fits all bag so just trying to find the best solution for me.

Ud ill call you in a bit.

You can also put the bladder bag on the wearers back side of the unaweep by attaching it to the harness attachment / adjustment section. I had worried this would interfere to much with on the fly adjustment but once the pack is adjusted it is not a big deal. The only downside I see is the water is pretty close to your back and may get warmed from your body heat pretty quickly

I have emailed customers to discuss hydration options on the Unaweep.

i personally am liking the idea of a hydration talon, with a little re configuring of extra straps I am thinking its possible to convert the talon to a "front pack" attached via molle or just buckles to the shoulder straps if COG is that big of a concern..if using the unaweep as designated backpacking then it could possible work.. still like the idea of clean lines with no extra entry/ exit holes imo

Nathan/Kevin, I took the plunge and ordered the Evo, Base Talon & Accessory Packet Set last week. I am a 3L bladder user. I don't want to cope with a COG shift by using the hydration Talon. I think I understand that the Accessory Pocket bladder holder can be hung on the inside of the packbag, & the drink tube extended via the loose roll top, correct? I don't understand how the Accessory Pocket Bladder Holder can be used in an external configuration. Please explain how this is configured.

You are correct in your assumption. The accessory bladder can be used between frame and pack bag as well by attaching it to the pack bag connection or the Load lifter webbing on the upper part of the frame.

Kevin, thanks for the external accessory bladder explanation...I think that will fit my needs. After reading Nathan's comments about the benefits of the Hydration Talon for other than hydration uses...I am going to change my order from a base to a hydration talon to get the extra pocket & buckle.
