Problems with connecting tarp zippers

A friend of mine just got a connecting tarp last week and when we just tried to do a setup with it we can't get the zippers to work on one side of each end of the tarp. When trying to start the zippers they just won't insert far enough. They seem like they just need another mm and they would work but we just can't get them to start.
We noticed one of the male zippers have a silver end and the other male zipper (side that works) has a black end. The silver male end is the one we can't get to feed into the double zippers all the way.
Anyone else have this issue or know a trick to get them started. I am thinking if we get it to feed through once then it will break it in a little and work better but we are having a heck of a time and can't get it to work.

Yes you have zippers that are not compatible. We had one color and once YKK made them custom they changed. Contact us Monday to resolve
