I took my Cimmaron and medium stove bundle out for the first time this weekend and I love it. It wasnt cold by any means, but I got the stove burnt in pretty good. One thing I was having trouble with was the damper closing on me. I could not get it to stay open. Ive heard about guys installing a spring to create a bit of a bite to hold it in postition. Any suggestions?

A spring can be added , however as long as the larger part is down it should work well . The problem with springs is they do not last long unless put on the outside with a small clamp essentially

Consider the reason the damper is self-closing. If you look at it on the inside, one side has more material and is therefore heavier than the other side.
Rotate the fat rounded side until it is down and the damper will default open instead of closed. Its much safer and the stove will flow better. NO more self-snuffing fires.
