Dirt layer in stove

Hi, I just received the sxl stove and I am preparing to do the burn in. My coworker swears you have to put a layer of dirt in a tent stove so you don't burn out the bottom. This is my first stove and I wanted to know if anyone does this with their titanium stove?

Not needed but doesn't hurt . I have never done it on ours

I asked the same question on here when I first received my stove. Have never done it, and stove still performs good as new after many, many burns. It will warp with heat over time, which is to be expected, but that hasn't hindered any performance. Enjoy!

Titanium handles heat way better than the steel stoves. I know freeman explore have beer using a stove for almost 4 months strait

I've been throwing a layer of sand in mine since day one, sounds like it's not necessary but it's never been too much of a hassle either so I'll probably just continue on. I'm a better safe than sorry kind of guy anyway.
