I had a quick question-

Do you advise putting sand or dirt at the bottom of your stoves for burning? I see that is recommended on some other sites for other stoves, but haven't really heard much about if that is needed for SO stoves.

I had a question about seating the damper into the top of the stove.

About how far in should I be able to wiggle/push it down? I wasn't sure if I should be able to get it to seat in fully so that none of the crimped part was visible or not, but I couldn't quite get it down that far and I was pushing with pretty good force, but I didn't want to over do it. It seemed fairly sturdy, I'm just not sure how far down is enough. Any input is appreciated. This is regarding the new V2 damper.

It is not needed to seat it all the way to the bead, just make sure it is seated in well. Sometimes a little twisting helps as well.

You want the damper in the stove pretty securely
