Have used duralogs in an artic oven before with good results but the stove I run is muck tighter than the ones sold by SO. Wounering if any tipi users have tried them in the ultralight soves sold by SO? If so would like to know how well they worked. Wondering if heat output was good and how bad if any interior smoke they got inside the tipi. Also wondering how bad they sooted up the pipe and stove for packing after the burn.

I have not tried it. I think there has been discussion on 24hrcampfire.com on this before. You might try a search there

I did it last year with my 12 person tipi and extra-large titanium stove. No issues whatsoever and they worked great. We probably had about four or five logs that we burned in it last year. We'll probably do the same thing this year but I think we're going to bring a case of them.

thanks for reply, will give them a try on the next road trip. Tried using pellets on this last trip and they did not work as well as planned. Assume you are the person who posted picks of the SO tipi on the Alaska Outdoor Forum your pics and posts were what made me select the SO over the others, so far its been a great buy. You must love the room in the 12.

Good deal, I'm glad that you're enjoying it. So far I haven't used mine a great deal, been using the LBO a lot though. I probably won't use the tipi again until goat hunting in October, but I also have another hunt planned in December that I'll use it on.

How are the duralogs for heat? I assume they burn longer but not hotter. I am usually camping in temps below 0F so heat is as crucial or more crucial than duration of burn.

Duraflame logs put off some serious heat.

I only use them in my base camp, so no packing them in. If I'm going to pack something heavy on my back for pure pleasure, it's going to be beer, not Duraflame Logs.
