Stove On Ice

I am looking for creative ideas. We'll be camping on the ice in a couple weeks and I'm wondering what folks put under their titanium stoves to keep from melting ice and making a mess inside the tipi. I've got the XL. I wonder if a cookie sheet is enough of a reflector? Thanks!

I am not sure, I would possibly try longer legs if I could as well (but no so long it becomes unstable) .

On snow, I get some melt out, but it is not as bad as you would think.

I might try a cookie sheet under the stove. Might be just enough to block the heat.

i get some melt out but its ok,i think its not a thing to worry about...maybe if you have a huge fire barrel(not in a tipi please)LOL! but a small,medium,large titanium stove will be ok.

One thing I have heard of people doing is raising the legs as Kevin mentioned. You could probably use tinfoil as well. My main concern with ice would be the legs melting through. Kifaru has a winter platform that is basically an overpriced piece of metal cut to the dimensions of the stove. I thought about just cutting some logs to a decent size and using them to raise the stove.

Logs is a good thing,this time i was burning a lot of woods and had problem with a unstable stove and smoke was leaking out...pretty bad thing if you are sleeping.I had to raise it and get it stable.

We had LOTS of ice melt last winter. I don't want to lift the stove too much as having a heat source low helps in extremely cold conditions. I'm going to try a new rig on next week's BWCA trip. I'll report back.
