BioLite stove?

Postby Julienc » Tue Aug 05, 2014 10:26 am

Hi. Has anyone out there tried the BioLite wood stove? I like the idea of using the stove to generate energy to run the fan, but I have to admit, the ability to charge other USB accessories at the same time sounds too good to be true.

If not this stove, has anyone tried a fire-based electricity generating camp tool that they would recommend?

The other interesting options, IMO, is the power pot...

I have a bio lite stove. In theory it is a good stove The problem with it is it does intermittent charging the charge is not strong enough to charge a USB device fast. The charge stops charging to recharge the battery it can't Keep the fan going at the same time as it is charging your device. Another issue I have had is it got too hot and melted the welds on the inside of the canister. I called the company and they sent me a whole new stove minus the power generator. I still think it's cool it's just not worth the money. I like the company because they donate stoves to people around the world.

One thing that is cool is the pot that you can buy it fits on top of the stove it works very well. I have extreme problems of lighting the stove in wet weather. I do not use any form of Accelerant I'm sure if you carry something like this with you the stove would work fine.
