Custom Silvertip

Has anyone had any success in having SO do some custom alterations? I'm wanting a Silvertip with only one zipper to reduce a little weight. I really see no benefit in having 2 zippers on such a small shelter but I could be wrong. Anyone else feel the same?

I called the shop a year or so back to see about having a one-door shelter made, I think it was the Silvertip. They were not receptive to the idea.

I ended up ordering a standard Silvertip, and very happy with it.

Our thoughts on dual entrances are this:
-- separate entrance / exit for 2 people .. which makes for much better sleeping
-- Better venting for 1 or 2
-- Options for entry / exit in the wind

We do have some more minimalistic stuff on the drawing board, but no ETA at the moment.

We are very reluctant to do custom very often for the following reasons
-- Scalability goes down while price goes up for most people
-- Errors in shipping / orders etc are compounded
-- The majority of the customers will end up paying more for the same product
-- Resale becomes more confusing as does instructions and advice

Now I know in some cases this is frustrating to customers , especially on some things that make sense like a single screen door option. However, that is where we are at this point. In the future, we plan to introduce some products that fill in those gaps.

Thanks

Thanks for your reply Kevin.
I've been in production manufacturing for over 25 years and understand completely. You simply can't make one offs and expect to turn a profit. But like my customers tell me, "doesn't hurt to ask".

I'm wondering if you think that there's enough seam allowance on the zipper that someone could rip the stitch and remove it? I'm guessing there wouldn't be enough material to rollhem it and still have the correct geometry for the two panels.

New minimalist stuff you say. I'm looking forward to seeing them.
