Cimarron Carbon Pole

I am looking to purchase a Silvertip for a solo shelter and would like to use a Cimarron carbon pole because I'll be purchasing that shelter as well in the next few years and would like to utilize the same pole. If I purchase a Cimarron carbon pole could I remove a section and utilize it for the Silvertip. Doing a little simple math it seems like it would be in range.

If you remove the Cimarron adjuster you have a static 64 inch pole. It can be used with the line loc kit elevated a bit, but not pitched to the ground. If you remove a carbon section, is can be used with rock or something to give it a little more height if it needs it.

It can work, but in the perfect world it would be one less carbon section and a longer aluminum adjuster. We have contemplated doing that, and still might. However, that method creates other problems, such as having extra or to few carbon sections if Cimarrons or Silvertips get ordered in quantities we did not plan, or possibly being out of stock for too long for one tent based on a run on a different tent. I hope that makes sense. I'd be happy to advise you if you want to make your own adjuster section, but it's much easier with a good drill press.

Personally, It can work, and I'd love to offer a better solution, but it could create other issues on our end at the moment. It is something we will probably revisit, at some point as well.

Thanks
Kevin

Thanks Kevin. It makes sense. I am not a trekking pole guy so I was thinking of using the Cimarron pole since I'll eventually have a silvertip and Cimarron. Sounds like it will work with Cimarron pole with a little creative set up.

Chad, I went through the same thing looking for the right pole for my Silvertip.

I found out that Ruta Locura and BPWD are both making custom length poles. I ended up getting an Aluminum pole with CF adjuster from BPWD with a 57-64" length range.

Thanks Shane. Was that a custom option from BPWD? I didn't see anything on their website.

Yes it was a custom length .742" diameter, 57-64" adjustable. I just called them up, told them what I wanted and they quoted me a price. I think it was $65. They got it out in a couple days.

Wow, I just seen a full nest for the Cimarron on there too. That's going to be perfect when I take the family on an excursion.
