I am also very interested in this one as "footprint" space is so hard to find for larger tipis in steep, bushy BC. I would love a solid, light base camp tent that would handle major snow loading, very severe winds and still have space for extended wilderness stays.
There are some fine tents available, I use a Hilleberg Saivo as my main tent as well as an original Integral Designs MKI-Lite for short stays in backpacking scenarios. However, I am now rather compromised with serious neuro-orthopaedic issues and much of my bush time will have to be by fixed wing aircraft or my Tacoma 4x4.
However, with any of these, weight is THE issue and packing one for any distance is no longer doable for we old geezers.
We cannot use rotary wing aircraft for hunting in BC, so, one does what one can with fixed wing or vehicles and enjoys just being out there.
With this, it seems, I could still pack in for short distances from remote roadheads and yet have a comfortable, longer term camp, I love the concept!
Trust SO to keep developing really neat gear, you folks impress me so much and I am a customer for life.
