Could you use it as a permanent shelter?

Or will it disintegrate in the sun? Can't decide if I want this or a yurt dome. I like this stylistically better and it's built ready for a woodstove. The dome is not. But the material is kind of wimpy. I wish they would offer a tipi made of sturdier material for people who aren't all sperged out over weight.

We have had several people use them fairly long term from 6 months to over a year. I would not recommend it as a permanent shelter though, and I wouldn't recommend a dome tent either, especially if they are not manned or maintained some during storms. If for instance you had some property, you could pitch it and take it down when you left it would likely be fine. A framed shelter like a yurt would be better IMO to erect and let stand and be possibly not maintained for periods of time.

You might want to look at the wall tent makers if you are looking for a heavy duty tipi, made of treated canvas.

You are correct sun and bears are the worst enemy . I'd have a hard time stating normal use since that could vary based on what you think normal is. We test in a very very high sun /UV environment and have specifically chosen colors that perform better in high UV. I would expect years of normal service , I know several have been in high use for several years and I know some have had near year around use from a few customers . However , very high UV and specific colors can be issues . I have heard of some tents of certain colors degrading in a few weeks at Everest base camp. We have tested a couple colors that showed signs of degredation quickly vs more muted colors . Most of our long term tests are at 7500 ft , minimal cloud cover type environments . FWIW we can fix "bear " issues and have had to before . Sorry we can't do anything on bear issues .

Reaper - It won't. If it was pink it would be much more of an issue after a few weeks of high intensity sun

True story I had a pink and a yellow . The pink was noticeable after maybe 3 weeks, the yellow maybe 6 months . The brown and greens I have not seen any issue with
