Posted: Mon Jul 14, 2014 11:29 amMy answer is that it depends. When combatting bugs & mosquitos here in MN, an enclosed nest is the way to go. Bivies are too hot. However in the winter time or in shoulder seasons when not battling the blood suckers, a bivy or just a tarp on the ground is better. I already have some bivies and there are many places to buy them. I think the time would be better invested in perfecting the nest.
