Whatever happened to the breakaway tarp?

You sound fond ? We have contemplated bringing a modified version back a couple times ,but it seems most prefer the bug out and 3 part , which IMO is more livable and honestly within a couple ounces overall.

We do have something very similar to the breakaway , but zippered and vented that we have done a fair amount of testing on, but aren't sure if we will offer

Yup love my breakaway tarp with annex. The tarp always goes along on hikes with the 6P versashelter. I like the setup of tipe with a tarp attached. On solo's I always use the breakaway with the Annex. It's an oke setup which suits my needs, especially what I like it's a long sleeper which enables to usage of a small stove. Don't know if that's possible in a standard LBO (side sleeper, nest possibly close to a stove) with a basic 3 part annex

I have a questions about the DST Tarp.....

Is this thing completely flat when laid out on the ground?

I ask because I am a Hammock user that constantly flirts with a lack of trees and needs a tarp thats good for a continuous ridge line set up and a tree-less ground set up.

Do you have any knowledge of people putting this little chap up over a Hammock?

I have design of my own which would solve my problem (and bring about Peace on Earth) but I am pretty sure you guys are better at building this stuff than I will ever be.

It is flat no cat cut. There are some customers in Australia mostly tipis and packs

So it could work over a Hammock?

It is about 10 by 10 so used as a diamond it will have close to a 14ft ridgline. I don't hammock so I can't really say

Thats really helpful.
I ask because the pitches in the photos all achieve a nice 3 dimensional shape and its hard to see how it would look flat. 14 foot is a long ridgeline but no big deal.
I am very tempted. How do you protect the point where the Trekking pole presses against the fabric?

There is a reinforcement fabric in the center
