New Tent "Cimarron"

Similar to the LBO base, there is an option to pull out the center of a side making it more conical and taking a bit larger footprint, or to guy it out ,making it more flat sided on the lower portion and adding some conical shape to the higher portion. The flatter portion is really only the lower two feet.

It does have steeper angles than most of our tipi tents, but the co-efficient of drag remains within reasonable limits. The angles are less than a BCS 2 side and front, and close to BT 2 angles give or take a little bit. When optimized it is not really a 4 sided pyramid, there are some discreet angles, making it a discreet 6 or 8 sided tent, but for use general setup it is as easy as mid, and for use of sleeping space you could consider it as easy as a mid IMO. It could be setup completely 4 sided if desired, and does pitch ok with 4 stakes, however, personally I think most will pitch with 8 stakes, and the discreet sides do a fair amount to minimize becoming a sail.

Steeper angles shed snow better, so there is some give and take.

Kevin,

Does the price that you have currently listed for the Cimarron reflect the jump in cost that you mentioned would be happening on all tents in the near future; or has that not happened yet? Thanks.

However it may go up a few dollars after first production run , as we always intro price almost everything ... Sometimes they stay the same sometimes they bump a few dollars

Looks great. Sounds like the 4 person size would be ideal for most camping with 2 or more people. And it's as light as my little 2-man Mountainsmith shelter, which doesn't have anything like a nest option. Might want to consider this for my upcoming Colorado trail thru hike with my wife. The weight is so light I think we wouldn't regret bringing something as big as this tent.

Hello - I have a bcs2 grande on order but now this tent has me second guessing that. I was going to run the grande with the 2 person nest which I already have. What say you? Should I change my order? I would need the stove jack and tent pole.

I have a BCS Grande that I've seam sealed but have yet to use. Now, I see this shelter! I'd love to know the differences because I'd bet it's gonna be a tough call for some people. Not all the info is on the website but here's what I could gather.

Cimarron
88 sf
32 oz for Cimarron (no pole or stovejack)
72" tall
9.5' x 8'

BCS
100 sf
41 oz including stovejack without pole
80" tall
12' x 8'4"

BCS Grande
48 oz. canopy with stovejack without pole
82" tall
14' x 8'4"

Correct specs for the most part. The Cimarron , maxes out at closer to 11 by 9. It has slight angles ,of which two are optional. Slight angles reduce flat sided, but still maintain essentially a simple a mid feel and pitch.

With current pole option , stove jack, and stakes Cimarron all in with 8 stakes is under 3 lbs. You can also link trekking poles if you desire. I think the BCS, and 4 person are to tall to link poles effectively.
