My 8 man was a gift for Christmas but other than a quick setting up in my backyard and a break in of the stove, I've still not used it on an overnight but that will end this weekend. I work with a college outdoor program so my weekends are filled with trips (yea, don't feel too badly for me) but once our xc ski trip is over on Saturday I'm going to get out and pitch the tipi, set up the stove and move in for the night. My wife is even game to join me but I think that's because it's only a short walk back to the house if she's not happy
Since we have so much snow right now where I live in central NYS I'm planning on shoveling down to ground level later today after work. The only time I have set it up was back after Christmas when we were snow free. I don't want to fiddle with making dead men for stakes so I figure being down to the ground will make for an easier set up. I'll be using 12" galvanized spike nails for stakes but am open to any and all suggestions if you've got them.
One last thing...does anyone ever set this up without digging down to ground level in the snow? Just curious. If you do, please feel free to share your pitching tips and tricks. Thanks!
That's all for now. Take care and until next time...be well.
