I can tell you from experience that if you buy the 6-man - even for solo use - you'll regret not buying the 8-man in time! I moved from the 4-man kifaru to the 6-man Seekoutside, then onto the 8-man SO. Why? I love the space, and although you can stand up in the 6-man, remember that tipi tents have quite a steep slope, so in the 6-man you're trying to stand up whilst sharing the centre of the tent with the pole and the stove-pipe/stove. Similarly, if using a cot, you'll need to move the cot a fair bit towards the middle to avoid contact with the sides. If footprint really becomes an issue you can use the 8-man using the higher peg-out points, effectively reducing it to a 6-man anyway.
The advantage of the smaller tents is that they take less effort to heat in cold weather. Solution? Buy a bigger stove!
