Does the stovejack on the SO Tipis have some type of cover or flap to keep water from leaking in if using the Tipi without a woodstove? I have a 6 man on order and began thinking about that. I plan to use the Tipi year round, and it would be too warm around here in the summer to have the stove inside. We do get some rain storms in the summer, though. Just want ed to find out if I need to buy some type of stovejack cover for those times, or if the stovejack already has something built into it for inclement weather sans stove. Thanks for any info!

It has a snap cover to keep rain out. You should put a dab of silicone in the female hole section to prevent any leakage possibility when it is open.

How durable is the 8 man tipi in snow and wind? On a recent hunting trip, we had two tents collapse under about 8 inches of snow. The vendors say to keep the snow brushed off, but if you're asleep, that's kind of hard to keep up with. Will the 8 man tipi shed snow on its own? How about wind? is it good to 40, 50, 60 mph winds?

Pitch it taller if you want to shed snow a little easier. Guy it out as well and the snow drops off and builds up on the edges instead.

Plus one on Scott's comments. The 8 does very well in wind and with snow it depends on the type of snow. I've had a foot of dry snow do better than 4 inches of wet. When expecting snow , a slightly taller pitch and use of side guy outs helps keep snow off the canopy
