LBO-Tarp-LBO

Just a quick question on this set-up. I have recently acquired one - many thanks to Angie and Kev for going above and beyond in customer service - and have had a few plays (setting it up in its various configurations including the nest) and a couple of overnights in it. Also used it to burn in the 6' pipe with my large SO ti stove (not recommended in 26c temps!). I used trekking poles with the SO extenders - worked a treat.

Anyway, to the question. When in base-tarp-base format, the zips are providing the structural rigidity to get the tautness required - ie all the loading between the two bases is taken on the zips between the tarp and the two base units. Whilst I have never had any issues with the No 8 zips used in my SO 8-man tipi, I wondered if the format in the lbo-tarp-lbo is putting too much strain on them, particularly if snow is around. Am I being too paranoid here, or is there some way of - say - putting a bit of paracord etc between the two poles to limit any excessive loading on the zips?

Thus far it has not been an issue, and I don't take great care myself to take stress off, or to get it super tight either. I just guy out the tarp part if there is any slack, which there usually isn't much if any.

I do know the LBO has been used a fair amount in the snow, and I know there are some photos floating around of BTB in the snow from an Alaska hunt last year.

Any zipper can have issues depending on use, and conditions, but in our testing, and a lot of relatively hard use from users there have not been any issues.
