What gear are you looking to improve in 2014 ?

What part of your kit are you looking to improve in 2014 ? I did very little in gear changes other than the Paradox Pack this year (which I love BTW). I think I'm going to change my alcy stove next year, perhaps to a wood burner and a better fire kit (my kit is pretty good, but I want more instant gratification). I'll probably make the wood burner out of ti. For the amount of weight, I have in alcohol I can probably get the same weight.
What are your main focuses for improvement next year ?

Hope I don't have to make any major improvements in 2014. Just received a big improvement when I got my BCS2 and a longer stovepipe for it. Have not got to try them out yet but am looking forward to it.

Hi Scott

What temperatures were you in ? Was it not a long enough burn time or just not enough heat ? I've had good luck with the setup you run, but when temps get into the teens, I start to really think about warmth differently.

We got close to zero on the trip in early October. Teens in September, but no snow.

I've used a similar setup in 5 degree temps and it was ok, but at that time I had mostly oak to burn, which I am sure helped. 0 is cold, no matter how you slice it. What wood were you burning ? Was it pine and twigs or was it larger diameter cut into segments to fit ?

We had mostly pine, some larger diameter as well.

and here it's 2014, and I still need a new packable tent, and stove. as a full time product tester, we normally have a tent worthy of testing and review, yet this year we don't seem to have any tents that need testing. and as a disabled veteran no money to purchase a large tipi. just not our year for luck...
