This is going to be my first year backpacking in with my "Unaweep - evolution 4800 with base Talon" and carrying my crossbow. Some of the terrain is going to be steep and i'll be doing some bush waking so I'm going to need both hands free. Was wondering what you all were doing for strapping your bows down, and do you protect the bow with cover or soft pack?
Thanks in advance, Pat

What kind of crossbow do you have? Something like an Excalibur will be more difficult just because it's so wide. A compound Ten Point, Barnett, or Carbon Express would be easier and less prone to hanging in brush. I'd orient the bow limbs down and butt up and compress with a Talon.

I have an Elite Energy 32, so it is a shorter axle with strait limbs. Do you cover the cam's, strings or sights? Thanks for your input Nathan!

Covering the cams is a good idea in brush, otherwise check them really well before cocking. It is too easy to get a twig wedged between the cam and string, then when you cock it the string rolls out of track. Next best thing to a dry fire.
