Sewing Machines

Postby Nathan C » Thu Oct 23, 2014 4:41 am

I love sewing machines. The older the better. I recently did a light restoration on my Great Grandmothers The Free treadle machine circa 1913-1915 and got it back to sewing.

I know we have quite a few DIY / Make Your Own Gear folks here. What are your tool of the trade?

Have an old 1960s Necchi, the company that did one of the first zigzag stitches. It is a few years newer than the black Necchi that I learned to sew with. It needs some adjustment and work. I replaced it with a computerized HuskyStar, same company that makes the Viking machines - Husqvarna sewing machines. I have been happy with it. I bought in on sale. One of the lower priced computerized basic machines. Classed as a machine for beginners.
