I've pretty much gone just to using bladders. I like how I can form them to fit in just about any spot and so far I haven't had any issues with them rupturing or leaking. Also, in my never ending attempt to shave weight, they are a little lighter than Nalgene bottles.

I use the 4 liter MSR Dromedary as a water bladder. It can take some punishment, and I can hang it up around camp if desired. Also carry a 1 liter bottle for drink mix.

Hate the idea of carrying water inside my pack (where it could leak). I use 2x medium carabiners along one long edge of the bladder, clip those around the front straps for the multi-lid on my Unaweep.. Route the drink tube, strap down the lid.. Water is up high, gravity fed, and still outside my pack in case of leaks...

My trips are almost all horse packing now. I don't want anything on my back to throw my balance off. I keep a Nalgene quart on each side of my horn bag. I like the way my filter pump fits into the bottles for filling.
