They used to not need seam sealing or so most people reported. We then offered it as a service. Currently, we recommend it around the guy outs and loops at a minimum. Personally, I have not had an issue with any of the seams leaking other than around those spots. Those were the first "personal" use tents I've sealed. However, I would also advice, if you expect 5 days of rain, you probably should seal it as insurance. I have not had issues, with any non sealed personal tents, but I don't live in the NW either.
