Tell me more about this photo

Specifically this image:

which is a fortress pack. Two things pique my eye. First, some sort of way of keeping the excess webbing under control in a way that looks like it might work. Care to say more? Second, the gatekeepers attach to the Merlin (no news here), but the same webbing has a second gatekeeper that seems to attach to the frame. How? Care to say more?

Taming the straps is really my main point of excitement, but being able to attach a gatekeeper at the frame does open a number of options (*if* a standard revo frame works -- I won't buy a new version until the one I have wears out, which is, never!).

The first one is easy, strapkeepers. They tidy up the pictures, but honestly I don't use them in the field.

The second one...the gatekeeper straps have two gatekeepers per strap. The new Revolution panel and all the packs don't have sewn in compression anymore, they have web loops instead. So you can add, move, or remove the compression straps as you wish.

Those straps are connected to web loops on the packbag, not directly to the frame. Though you could wrap the strap around the frame and then route the webbing back through a gatekeeper.
