Deciding on a pack

Hey there,

I have been looking for a new pack for some time and decided to try out a Unaweep pack. Now i am using it mainly for hunting/hiking few will be overnight trips but mostly day long trips in the Rockies up here in Alberta. I am trying to decide between the 3900 and 4800. Does not seem to be a big weight difference between the two, and although most trips i would make would require little gear having the ability to use the same pack for longer trips is what appeals to me with the larger size. I guess my question is, if i got the 4800, could i store just a few basic items and food and compress it enough to not be awkward for shorter trips not too far from the truck? Early season hunting i plan on getting a tipi and needing to carry it and the sleeping gear as well so im just unsure which way to go.

My previous pack as a Mystery Ranch Crew Cab, its versatility was great but the weight when near empty and hip belt didn't work for me.

It compresses nearly flat . I use one often for long day trips etc. I often use the Talon and compress the pack bag essentially closed except for the roll top extension which I will use to store a jacket

Now i just have to decide whether to get the pack and tipi now or just the pack and hold out on the tipi until the CAD goes up lol
