When the pack bag is not fill the load shelf works as described. It really is a challenge of real estate vs compressed and loaded and not being to saggy with minimal contents. You could probably twist the webbing around sort of ice axe style and then buckle to talon as an option. Just a thought.

I too am a 34" waist and initially ordered the medium hipbelt. After talking with Kevin, I decided that the large may offer a better fit with more support and I'm happy I made the switch. I've had a very comfortable experience with it so far. Just my two cents.

Thanks for the feedback on the hipbelt Swisski. That gives me a little more confidence with going ahead and ordering a size L belt.
