Is there a video of how to utilize the load shelf with a loaded pack bag? I have seen the video of compression with the Talon but I would like to see compression with the bag and the Talon.
Thanks

Can you point me to that video, or whatever you may have used to show you utilization of the pack shelf?

Sweet! Good job Nathan. Must be muzzle loader season back there. Thanks for posting the photo.

Very cool, thanks Nathan. Do you find there are any advantages to using the talon, then pack bag as compression rather than just using the talon? Or is it just preference? I suppose you would be able to access stuff inside your pack bag easier if needed with this method. Thanks again for showing us.

Swisski, it's mostly about preference and the conditions at hand. Honestly I normally wouldn't have used the load shelf this way. I would have either put meat on the back of the packbag, or if the bag was relatively empty and the meat load not too big I would have detached the top of the bag and rolled it down to a 1/3 or 1/2 it's normal height and loaded meat on top of it.
It was cold that morning so I was wearing a lot of clothing. I dumped everything but my wool tshirt and Uncompahgre jacket in the packbag before I headed out which fluffed it a good deal. Plus I wanted to do it in one trip, so I needed real estate. So I pulled the entire bag off the frame, laid meat down, bag on top of that, then compressed with the Talon.
Lots of ways to accomplish the same end, and one way probably isn't best for every situation.
